We are all part of this initiative because we believe that the character development of a child is of the utmost importance.  We welcome all PreK-12 students’ entries from around the world. THE POSTER SUBMISSION WINDOW IS CLOSED. 

The submission deadline is 11:59 PM (CST-Central Standard Time) on March 31st, 2023. 

GENERAL RULES:

PreK-12 students, including homeschoolers around the world, can enter the poster drive that supports Texas HB 1026 Required TEKS Objectives. Participation is free of charge. The decisions of the judges will be final and binding in all respects for all categories and grade divisions. 

All entries must be original and entirely created by the participants. Contact information collected will be used for the purpose of ‘The Character Education Week’ only and will not be used for marketing or any other purposes. The words used in the poster should be in English or in the native language with English translation. 

All poster entries become the property of the Texas Character Education Week Poster Drive and are non-returnable. The right to modify any poster or slogan for reproduction purposes is reserved. Selected posters will be displayed in the Gallery Section at www.TheCharacterWeek.com and its social media accounts. Students’ identity information may be shared as follows

  • First name and Last name (For Example: John Doe)
  • Student’s Grade Level

The Character Education Week Poster Drive is divided into two categories by submission type.

1-Traditional Poster Category (PreK-12)

2-Digital Poster Category (6-12)

Traditional Poster Category Divisions:

The traditional Poster Category is divided into five divisions by grades.

  PreK-1

  2-3

  4-5

  6-8

  9 – 12

Digital Poster Category Divisions:

It is divided into two divisions by grades.

  6 – 8

  9 – 12

BENEFITS:

  1. All participants will receive a ‘Congratulations Certificate’ from The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
  2. All participants will receive a ‘Certificate of Recognition ’ from the University of Houston.
  3. All participants will receive a ‘Certificate of Appreciation ’ from Rice University School Mathematics Project.
  4. All teachers will receive a prestigious ‘Certificate of  Appreciation’ from character.org.
  5. Winning poster owners will receive a ‘You are a Star’ Certificate from the School of Science and Technology.
  6. Winning poster owners will receive a short congratulatory video message  from CHARACTER COUNTS! at Drake University.
  7. Each teacher of the winning student will receive a link to a free Digital Character Lesson Ebook: More Good Ideas from CHARACTER COUNTS! at Drake University. (available in versions grades K-5 or grades 6-12)
  8. Winning poster owners will be invited to participate in the ‘STARS in the Character Sky’ Virtual Event on May 4, 2023.
  9. All participants’ names will be posted on the World famous website of www.TheCharacterWeek.com per their opt-in/out.
  10. Some posters will be displayed in the Gallery Section of www.TheCharacterWeek.com based on the poster’s aesthetic proficiency, alignment with the character-building theme, and students’ emotional response concerning the character-building theme after May 4, 2023.
  11. All participant’s entries will be promoted on @TheCharacterDay social media. 
  12. For U.S Participants ONLY                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     PreK-5th Graders for Each Division: 1st Place $ 75
    6-8th Grade Levels: 1st Place $ 100
    9-12th Grade Levels: 1st Place $ 150

TRADITIONAL POSTER RULES:

  • Poster entries must provide a positive message about Character Education Week and focus on ‘Love’ as one of the character traits.
  • Be sure that your poster reflects a diverse, freeing, multifaceted, pragmatic definition of love instead of clichés.
  • Use  plain printer paper
  • Must be student’s ORIGINAL Artwork, and be age-appropriate within-grade divisions
  • NO glue; NO glitter; NO attachments; NO signatures; NO names in front of posters
  • NO syndicated, copyrighted, or clipart images
  • NO computer-aided or copy-machine poster entries
  • NO profanity; NO sexually explicit content; and NO drawings of a suggestable nature allowed
  • Reproducibility, spelling, grammar, and poster messages also factor in judges’ decisions
  • Use good lettering, high contrast, and bright colors on plain copy paper
  • The words used in the poster should be in English or in the native language with an English translation.
  • The submitted jpeg image of the poster should be at least 300 dpi.
  • Photo of the Artwork (ONLY Artwork) should be submitted.

DIGITAL POSTER RULES:

  • Poster entries must provide a positive message and focus on The Character Education Week and focus on ‘LOVE‘ as one of the character traits.
  • Be sure that your poster reflects a diverse, freeing, multifaceted, pragmatic definition of love instead of clichés.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator or a similar vector-based program only
  • Vector graphic only. No raster images
  • Use regular plain printer paper layout in a digital program
  • Must be student’s ORIGINAL Artwork, and be age-appropriate within-grade divisions
  • NO attachments or “placed” images; NO signatures; NO names in front of posters
  • NO syndicated, copyrighted, or clipart images
  • NO profanity; NO sexually explicit content; and NO drawings of a suggestable nature allowed.
  • Reproducibility, spelling, grammar, and poster messages also factor in judges’ decisions
  • Use good lettering, high contrast, and bright colors in a vector digital program
  • The words used in the poster should be in English or in the native language with an English translation.
  • The submitted jpeg image of the poster should be at least 300 dpi.

REGISTRATION

Here’s an opportunity to showcase your artistic, imaginative, and creative talent with a POSITIVE & ORIGINAL poster design based on the theme “Color the World with CHARACTER TRAITS.” Submit your original art that focuses on ‘LOVE’.  

Theme: Color the World with Character Traits such as honesty, integrity, love, kindness, etc.
Focus: Love

Description: This year, “Love” is the focus of the poster drive to promote diversity, kindness, respect, forgiveness, peace, self-control, self-management, etc.

Therefore, please reflect on the following question before drawing your poster.

“What does love mean for healing the world?”

Be sure that your poster reflects a diverse, freeing, multifaceted, pragmatic definition of love instead of clichés.

NOTE: Students may submit a poster related to other character traits as well.

Only one poster entry per student will be accepted. The submission deadline is March 31, 2023.

To enter, FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING STEPS FOR SUBMITTING YOUR ARTWORK.

  1. Scan/or take a photo of your artwork (ONLY Artwork) accordingly
  2. Fill out the Entry Form below completely
  3. Use English Alphabet characters ONLY for filling the form
  4. Be in compliance with all the requirements of the poster drive
  5. Upload your artwork
  6. Post your reflection statement in English in response to the question listed in the padlet platform related to your character value submission. (OPTIONAL)
